I have planned to buy a Laptop within Rs 35,000.I need to run Linux as well as XP.What should be my choice???

I am an Engineering student.Red Hat Enterprise Linux 4 and Windows Xp are my choices.I need to run them to fulfill my requirements on various grounds which include Programming in Linux,Java ,C and C++,playing games and listening to music. Are AMD X64 based systems better suited to the purpose?Or should I go for Core2 Duo?Are Lenovo N100 series Laptops better than their IBM counterparts?I would be helpful if I get the Brand and the model number and get proper technical support from the Experts.

you will not gat a core 2 duo or ibm laptop with amd 64*2 in 35000 rs...

lenovo n100 are good,

if you want to play games you need a grafics card, for that you need a pci express card slot in your laptop.. so while choosing laptop ask dealer for laptop with pci express card slot in its ports, till now i saw this port in hcl laptops,

hp and compaq may contain, i dont know exactly, because i dont know about their expansion port systm, lenovo n series do not contain it,,,

technically, amd processors are cheap and much better than intel, but i heard there are some problems in it...

you will get core2duo compaq in 43,000 and hp core2 duo may be in 46 or 47, these both are best...
Reply:you can get the best models suitable in IBM and acer only.for the Linux models of laptops
Reply:best suggestion would be to buy a laptop with linux pre-installed on it that way the laptop would be cheaper than pre-installed XP laptop. and then make that laptop dualboot by installing XP. Core2 Duo is better.
