Dual Boot With Windows and Linux?

I have Windows XP Professional(no service pack). In a NTFS drive(15 GB). I had installed Scientific Linux CERN in drive C (ext3). But when i am starting the computer only Windows is starting. How I can start Linux? I have no Floppy drive.

Dual Boot With Windows and Linux?
i think u ve load XP later . Previously installed Linux on ext3 partition is properly loaded on boot sector. On installing winxp seperately from Linux , the boot sector gets missing. This always happens when someone tried to instal dual OS without registering or marking boot sector for latest OS . Look, u need to instal Acronis OS selector or any other dual booting software to detect ur previous OS and boot sector file of that OS must be known ,so that u can browse and select that boot sector file for dual boot.

Basically, If u ve any Windows OS installed then simply run and instal the ACRONIS OS SELECTOR . Now make bootable media of os selector on any removable media (the option will be there to create bootable media). Now simply insert bootable disk of another OS which u like to instal seperately on the disk ,make it instal and reboot. And now insert Acronis OS selector bootable media and boot before booting hardisk . when acronis os selector from that bootable media starts running, select the ACTIVATE option there and remove the media. Now again reboot and boot the Hardisk . This Time u ll ve the previously installed windows on which bootable media was created and the another OS installed on seperate partition(installed before activate os selector).

SIMPLE....Instal 1st OS%26gt;RUN Acronis os selector%26gt;LOAD 2nd OS on seperate partition or same partition%26gt;Activate OS selector from its bootable disk.

I think the problem u ve described may be resolved by using ACRONIS OS SELECTOR coz theres an option'DETECT previously installed OS" . There follow the instructions;choose the previously installed OS partition . But may be this not sufficient...u will be asked to locate boot sector file of previously installed OS .But go for ACRONIS OS SELECTOR surely, definetly ur problem will be resolved.

In Linux theres always an option while installing OS for dual boot with name GRUB for any previously installed windows or any other OS....

To recover back ur Linux u may reinstalled the OS again and select Repair/upgrade option from there and then select Grub dual boot option . But i prefererably telling u to Instal Acronis OS selector before doing any experiment .Atleast by installing OS selector ur windows will be saved and u can further activate os selector from its bootable disk to recover it back.

If u want to download Premium (purchased/full version) Acronis OS Selector free of cost then asked me the link by mailing me at :-rishabh_jaina@rediffmail.com or simply mail me by clicking at my name in display and select email me there. i ll upload the file on net and will passed u the link !

If agreed with ma answer, kindly choose me for the Best answer ;-)
Reply:Linux is not installed properly on u r machine, try to install it again
Reply:You need to get something like a boot loader so you can choose what OS you want to start, because right now I think your computer automatically starts to windows Xp because it is probably the Primary OS You should try to install a boot loader something like GAG which you could find at http://gag.sourceforge.net

or Acronis boot loader
