Hi there , iam civil engineer but have good aptitude on math and iam 30.I want to get into software programming.I study c c++ java x86 and linux kernel.Is this skillset good for me to entry ?or iam missing anything ?and please dont discourage me for switching from civil to computers.

Sounds like a good skill set to me, I think all you need is practical experience. Also, you could probably try joining in on open source communities, jump / help into a project, hence getting more exposure. Or you could also develop software programs for yourself as a Civil Engineer.

Reply:The skills you have acquired are enough to get entry into IT %26amp; CS. In additon to these also study Software Engneering, SDLC and also try to get pratical knowledge as much as you can.
Reply:Learn Java Deeply and write Certification Exams. Prepare for SCJP(Sun Certified Java Programming). If you get more percent of marks then you will be recruited by many companies. So I hope you will concentrate on Java and write SCJP. I'am also preparing for SCJP.
I expect you will write SCJP exam.
