Partition xp ready for linux sabayon?
Excellent question. Incredibly, this is possible with qparted even tho it is not possible with any Windows product.

Altho you will likely find that XP is unnecessary, you can do a dual boot while preserving XP as you suggested. To do this:

1. Make a BACKUP of your XP first, just in case you make a mistake!

2. Run qparted from Linux, and repartition your hard drive as you desire, remembering that Linux will have a seperate swap partition, and, since you will be manually partitioning, you will need to create a swap partition. Understand that you must know where the XP is located, because if you reformat the partition containing XP, you will loose it. I suggest making the partitions NOT the same size. For example, if your hard drive is 60 gigabyte, have a 2 gig swap partition, 18 gig Linux, and the balance of about 40 gig going to XP.
Reply:Yes, use GParted to reduce your Windows partition size and thus create free disk space for Sabayon. Windows will run checkdisk on first boot after its partition has been resized, but its nothing to worry about :)
