Is it a good idea to use .NET under Linux?

Isn't it dangerous to use .NET (Mono) under linux? Microsoft is the company controlling the development of .NET.

Currently Microsoft is standardizing the C# language and the basic .NET specifications. But this is only at the moment. Maybe C# 5.0 will not be standardized any longer and maybe also in .NET 4.0 Microsoft will start to keep more and more functionality closed. And when using Mono the developer only helps Microsoft to destroy the big enemy "Java".

Don't we all fall in a death-trap, if we use .NET under linux?

Is it a good idea to use .NET under Linux?
do not even think using .Net in linux becouse this platform made by microsoft to make sure all users and developers being windows user ..

.NET is like the core of microsoft now , and i do not think so they give linux his core ..
Reply:From the Mono Project FAQ

Do you fear that Microsoft will change the spec and render Mono useless?

No. Microsoft proved with the CLI and the C# language that it was possible to create a powerful foundation for many languages to inter-operate. We will always have that.

Even if changes happened in the platform which were undocumented, the existing platform would a value on its own.
