How to retain Linux OS lost when windows is reinstalled?

Hi,

i am using 80 GB hard disk in which Windows XP is installed on a primary partition (C:). Now I wish to install Fedora Core 4 on my hard disk. I think this would replace the windows bootloader with its own(GRUB or LILO). Say in future, If I reinstall the windows then I would lose Linux. Is there any tweak to avoid this or retain the linux even after reinstalling windows?

you won't 'lose' linux, you will just lose the boot loader.

Boot from the FC4 install disk and there will be a repair option. I think it even allows you just to reinstall the boot loader but I'm not sure in which version that first appeared.
